Victoria Blackhurst, DDS, MBS Periodontist
For Dr. Victoria Blackhurst, dentistry is about helping people, first and foremost. She demonstrated this as early as her college days in University of South Carolina, where she co-founded the university’s chapter of Operation Smile.
In order to continue helping people using dentistry, Dr. Blackhurst attended Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry (VCU), where she was appointed the chief resident in her final year. After getting her DDS from VCU she continued using dental care to help people by treating underserved communities in Jamaica, Panama, Philadelphia, New Orlean, and Appalachia.
During her time at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Dr. Blackhurst began to focus on periodontology. She had developed an interest in periodontology because of its emphasis on preserving patients’ teeth. She finds periodontal work especially rewarding now that there’s growing evidence showing a relationship between gum health and overall health.
After completing her periodontology training at Tufts, Dr. Blackhurst started working at Concord Lexington Periodontics’ Concord office. She finds the practice to be the perfect environment to educate patients about oral health. In creating treatment plans, she prides on getting to the bottom of patients’ goals so that she can create plans that are built around the patients’ best interests.
Outside the office, Dr. Blackhurst likes to stay active, running, hiking, and golfing. When she wants to relax you can find her with her family and friends or baking.
Dr. Blackhurst is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, and Massachusetts Dental Society.
